Winter Racing

The rapidly falling temperatures have not deterred Richmond paddlers from getting stuck into various races. Last Sunday saw two events take place, the Avon Descent and the first in the series of Hare and Hounds races at Wey Kayak Club.

Over in Guildford there was a bumper turnout for the both the 10km Hare and Hounds race and the 5km Dash Hounds race. Nearly 60 Richmond paddlers were present from U10s to veterans. Many indivdual records from last year were broken and new benchmarks set to beat this year.

In Stratford 9 paddlers took on the Avon Descent, over 10 miles and 5 weirs. Our best results came from Paul Hayes, who took 2nd in the K2 class, and Sean Martin who was 3rd in the WWR K1.
