Richmond Dominate at Avon Decent.

Plenty of water was flowing over the 6 weirs that the 10 strong Richmond team had to negotiate down the River Avon last Sunday for the annual 10.5 mile Avon Decent Kayak race. The constant rain and muddy car park only added to the atmosphere! Freddy Purcell’s recent acquisition of a vaguely structured and disciplined training program proved itself. Dropping everyone one of the start, Freddy dominated the race from th

Richmond Hasler Results

Thanks to everyone who made it down to Ham for this year’s race. We had over 150 boats on the river and despite challenging conditions and a constrained course we were able to run all the races except for the Hody K2 in the afternoon which, regrettably, we had to cancel due to the increasing river flow. Provisional Results are available for Divisional/Lighting Races and Beginners and should be confirmed in the

Richmond Excel at Maidstone

Congratulations to everyone who took place in Maidstone’s Hasler Marathon on Sunday. Despite the threat of cancellation the race went ahead without a hitch, with river levels on the Medway back to normal after the flooding earlier in the week. The club was able to field a number of strong boats across the divisions and this paid off, with Richmond securing top place in the club points tally for the race. Club n

Dash Hounds Report – 19 Feb 2012

Well, after snowfall a few weeks back the final Dash Hound / Hare & Hound race took place. We were treated to another lovely day – very spring-like, even the adults thought it was warm! It was another excellent turnout from the juniors who are now very familiar with the race and set about getting ready and warming up. Once again, in the Dash Hound, there were some excellent performances with many kayakers produci

At the near elite level, Elisabeth/Martin were 6th in Mixed K2, Randall 6th in Vet K1, Chris Gavin 8th in Mens K1 and Mike/Will 9t

Dash Hounds / Hare & Hounds – Race 4

A New Year and another race in the Dash Hound / Hare & Hound series – Race 4 and, as usual, a good laugh. The water was glassy calm which provided some stunning images of boats and their reflection – hope someone was taking photos. One or two paddlers were maybe lacking a little in fitness after the Christmas break but it was another very good turnout. The conditions were perfect (but that might depend on your po
