Following trials held at the regional Richmond and Elmbridge sprint regattas the team to represent Richmond Borough in the London Youth Games has been selected. The London Youth Games is a competition held every year between all the London Boroughs, across a range of different sports. The canoe sprint event takes place at the London Regatta Centre in Docklands on the 8th June.
Congratulations to the team selected, who are almost entirely made up of Richmond Canoe Club members:
Year 7 and under: Joe Whittaker & Ellie Tompkins
Year 10 and under: Ewan Winter & Gonowana Pietch
Year 12 and under: James Waszkiewicz & Annabel Widdop
Rocket K4: Rhiannon O”Connor, Elin Humphrey, Olly Hellel & Andrew Barton (Royal)
Reserves: Scarlett Brough-Mylod & Lily Wong
Previous Richmond Canoe Club participants in the London Youth Games have gone on to race at national and international level, representing GB at European and World Championships. Richmond borough finished 4th in the regatta last year so will be looking for another good result to count towards the overall total for the borough. Good luck to all the team!
