London to host Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012

6 July 2005

The Ashes, the Lion's tour, a British victory in the Tour de France (yeah, right), heck, the Nottingham Sprint Regatta. Whatever your hopes for the summer of sport, hold them to one side.

London will be hosting the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012.

National Racing Championships - Nottingham 2/3 July - Race Report

5 July 2005

Great club turn out and performance at the Nottingham Nationals. Richmond are now Junior and Senior C4 National Champions. "Best Richmond performance in 10 years," a Mr Wetherall was heard to say.

Heroes of the event, the Junior C4 crew, Josh Smyth, Matt Duck, Ed Kilby and Ollie Sims, covered the 1000m course in 4.54 minutes. The Senior Men’s (Marcus Gohar, Tim Joiner, Sean Martin and Derek Hall) completed the course in a more leisurely 5:31.

Twenty three paddlers made the journey up to Nottingham to compete in kayaking and canoeing competitions over 200m, 500m and 1000m. Apparently the Lord Mayor of Westminster was also in appearance. Those who spotted him, nay, spoke with him, should be duly honoured.

Full report and gallery coming soon. Film footage (thanks to Tim Kilip), with sound, of Senior C4 and Vets K4 .
