Youth Sprint Regatta Grand Prix

The Richmond juniors did very well at this the last race in this year's series; special mention should be made of Eleanor Broughen (1st U18 Girls 500 K1), Sean Tooze (1st U18 Boys 500 K1) and Ollie Sims (1st U16 Boys 200 K1). Jordan Mungovan (2nd U18 Boys 500 K1) and Lizzie Broughton (2nd U16 Girls 500 K1) did very well with Gemma Mungovan (3rd U16 Girls 500 K1) they all did the club proud.

Royal Canoe Club Marathon

15/06/03

There was a good turn out from Richmond, helped by the extremely high numbers from our adult beginners and intermediate groups. Congratulations to all of you, the club benefited tremendously from your participation and hopefully you are now hooked on racing.

Richmond was the placed third, only four points behind the winning club. All in all there were 21 of us paddling on Sunday.

Fiona Patterson racing in her first race managed a win in Divison 9 K1 and has now been promoted. Craig Haupt and Francisco Baratta managed a second place in the Div 7/8 K2. Ivana c (That's the info I have from the page) and J Rissik in Div 9 K2 achieved a good second place. Doug Bitcon ran in, in third place in the Div 3 K1 showing that Richmond can field top paddlers at these races for the rest of us to learn from. S Bulline achieved a tough second in the Div 7 K2. There were a large number of promotions for Richmond paddlers as well, I will make more mention of this when the letters arrive.

Sprint Results - June Regatta

??/06/03

Gavin Turrell stormed home against a strong headwind in the Mens B K1 200, to win the class and also to produce the quickest time of the day, the only athlete to go under 42 seconds.

In the K2 event Gavin teamed up with Steve Tingay and won by 1.5 seconds again fighting off strong competition.

Tingay/Turrell/Elkington-Cole/Hoile teamed up for the K4 200, where 4 boats battled it out (a first in terms of numbers for quite a while) nicking it on the line.

Maidstone Marathon

22/06/03

It was great that our racers are happy to travel all the way to sunny(!) Maidstone, shame about the rain, but at least it wasn't too hot.

It was hard fought through all the divisions with Richmond one of the few clubs able to field adult beginners. Congratulations to Craig and Fiona for their cracking win in Div 7/8 K2 - Fiona's looking forward to her promotion to Div 7 now.

Melissa and Peter managed third in Div 5/6
