Waterside Series Report - Results - Gallery

28/03/2004

The brothers have been strong all through the series this year. Richard and Henry have won taken the Senior Mens K2 - the Blue Ribband event, Howard and Fiona won the mixed K2... and Graham and Nevile took second in the veterans K2. These results meant that the Richmond A team came second in the Senior Team trophy. Well done lads and lass and to all who took part in this great series.

Waterside D - Results

28/03/2004

A race that has a reputation for being... well just plain nasty has seen Richmond finish off the series in style, the Hendrons won the Mens K2, Rox and Linda won the Ladies K2 with Charlotte and Sarah just behind them in second. The Stonehouse brothers nailed a third in the vets K2. Bridget and Milos got a second in the Mixed K2 followed by Howard and Fiona.

Hendrons have been Tangoed

27/03/2004

The Hendron Brothers are looking sleek and every bit the paddling machine they profess to be, with their new sponsored K2, which has been provided to them by Double Dutch UK, for the Devizes to Westminster race. The boat, a Tango, will not be hard to miss at this years DW race, being bright orange and with go faster stripes, not to mention go faster paddlers! Its a boat the Hendron Bothers are hoping will take them onto the rostrum! Thanks must go to the generous sponsorship of our identical duo by Joe Walmsley at Double Dutch UK - www.doubledutchuk.com

Congratulations!!

Hendrons in pre-DW race favourites position - They said it!

19/03/2004

After a lot of very cryptic emails I have finally realised that the Hendrons have been given rather a good write up on the Newbury website. Sorry for being so slow on the uptake guys.. As for Neil slipping something into The Balcony... who can say. On that point Neil we are due for an update.

Volunteers Bill Update - Download Letter

19/03/2004

This bill aims to protect volunteer coaches from the increasing threat of litigation but it needs our support.

Please download this letter and use it as the basis of a letter to your MP. If you live in Wimbledon (or know anyone who does), your MP is against this Bill. Let him know your feelings.

It was a long session ending at 11pm but a good one, thanks to all the speakers and Tim for organising.

Waterside C - Results

14/03/2004

Richmond was out in force again, Well done to Guin and Louise won the ladies K2 in a storming time and Sue and a Reading paddler who won the mixed K2 division.

The Hendron brothers maintain their good run of form coming second in the senior K2, Charlotte and Sarah ensured that we got a 1,2 in the women's K2 event.

The Stonehouse brothers found the podium again coming third in the Veteran K2 event with Bridget and Milos getting a third in the mixed K2 showing that a team formed late into the series can still perform well.

Richmond welcomes Volunteering Bill

02/03/2004

A Private Member's Bill to make the role of volunteers and voluntary organisations more secure was launched last night by MP Julian Brazier.

We hope this will protect coaches and paddlers from the litigation culture that has been spurred on by the no win no fee TV lawyers.

Tim J (who was there) was quoted as saying: "Coaches in all sports deserve praise and thanks, not the threat of solicitors' letters. This Bill will allow volunteers to focus on their training and reduce their level of anxiety. I call upon the Government to support this Bill."
