Richmond Canoe Club 10K Races Start 9th April 2025
The Richmond Canoe Club 10k races are back, kicking off on Wednesday 9th April 2025. The first race of the season will start at 6:30pm sharp, so please aim to be on the water by 6:15pm.
Each race follows a familiar and challenging course: starting from the Richmond Canoe Club, paddlers will head anticlockwise around Glover’s Island, then downstream to Twickenham Road Bridge, typically passing through the middle arch anticlockwise, before heading upstream on the right-hand side of the river. The full race will consist of three laps of this circuit.
The race format will either be a mass start or a handicapped group start, depending on numbers and conditions. If the latter, paddlers will set off in groups of similar ability, with slower paddlers starting first and faster ones chasing.
We usually have around 30 paddlers taking part, and the event is a great chance to push yourself in a race setting—whether you’re training for marathons or just want to test your speed.
If we have volunteers available, we’ll be running a galley and dinner after the race—so stick around for some post-paddle socialising!
Looking forward to seeing you there.
