Last weekend saw Richmond paddlers in action across the country on both Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday the junior coaches organised a team of 33 kayaks and 3 canoes to compete at the Regional Elmbridge Sprint Regatta. This was ideal racing practice for the more experienced paddlers and a good stepping stone towards National Nottingham Regattas for the younger paddlers. Lots of juniors got their first opportunity to paddle in K4, and there were lots of good individual results. Full results are available on the Elmbridge website.
On Sunday the second K1 marathon assessment race of the year was held at Worcester. The race took place over a lapped course with a beach portage, with a race distance of 30km for men, 26km for ladies, 22km for junior boys and 18km for junior girls. Richmond had 3 paddlers racing- Nick finished in the leading group of junior boys and took 3rd place in a sprint finish, Lizzie finished 1st in senior ladies and Tom 10th in senior men. Next stop for these 3 is Norwich next weekend for the K2 assessment race.
