September Nottingham Regatta

By 13 September 2013No Comments

Last weekend was the final national sprint regatta of the year. By all reports the weather was a vast improvement on previous events this year, with just a headwind to contend with.

For the masters, this was their national championship event, and Richmond performed very strongly, especially in the O34 category where Shane, Gabor, Istvan and Balasz between themselves took 1st place 5 out of the 8 events. In the ladies events Hilary and Sue raced to victory in the K2 200m.

The canoe squad had another good regatta, with Ben and Adrian winning all the C2 events and finishing 1st and 2nd in C1. In the senior kayak classes it was left to Sam and Neil to fly the Richmond flag, with Neil winning the Mens C 1000m, having started paddling less than a year ago.

There was very promising performances from the juniors, with promotions for Lily and Ben to Girls and Boys C, as well as promotions to Lightning A for Lilla, Freya and Francis. Our boys D K4 won the 1000m event, with strong crew boat performances in the other races as well.
