Hasler Final 2014 a Success

Now that the dust has settled it is time to say a huge thank you to everyone who came down, from all around the country, for the Hasler Final 2014 in Richmond. It was a great pleasure to host our first national event in our 70th year as a club, and fantastic to see so many paddlers racing on our stretch of the Thames.

The event could not have happened without the support of the Port of London Authority, Environment Agency staff, Richmond Council, Twickenham Yacht Club and the generosity and support of all our members and friends, not to mention the many many volunteers that we had on the day keeping things running smoothly. So thank you to all.

We are also particularly grateful to Antony Edmonds and Ollie Harding for giving up their time to photograph the constant activities on and off the water during the day. The photos that they captured are available online and in Antony’s case copies can be purchased on the site, so we do hope you can consider supporting them.

It’s also great to see the event continue to grow, in terms of numbers we had

  • 743 entries on the day, made up of 572 crews
  • 714 starters, made up of 549 crews

All issues reported to us have now been resolved in the results, and there are a few small changes to note in the final Club Points line-up

  • Wey KC jumped ahead of Southampton CC into 8th position, leaving Southampton in 9th place
  • Bishops Stortford CC gained a few more places, leaving them joint 10th with Nottingham

Our apologies go to the Eastern region, who were in fact the rightful winners of the Regional Trophy, so congratulations to them on their hard work over the last few years in achieving this. Apologies also to Euan Weir from Banbury who came second in Div 8 K1 but was unfortunately missed off the initial set of results.

The final provisional results have been sent to the MRC today and will be published by them shortly after any remaining promotions have been calculated.
