Provisional results for the 2012 Hasler Final, hosted by Banbury and Wokingham Canoe Clubs at Thames Valley Park on Sunday, are now out.
The club was able to put in a good performance despite challenging conditions caused by a combination of strong river flow and a headwind which strengthened during the day.
Richmond’s junior contingent headed up on the day by Sue and Tim Middlehurst fared paticularly well, with medals awarded to Jake Bedford (1st in Div8 K1), Mia Monahan / Daniel Titherington (1st in Div8 K2), Annabel Widdop / Lily Wong (1st in Div9 K2) and Archie Fegent / Alia Barakzai (3rd Div9 K2). Sue raced herself in Div 5 and although missing out on a medal was able to successfully carry out a deep water rescue of another paddler on the course in her K1!
Also noteworthy was Oliver Khlaf who came 4th in Div5 K1, earning a promotion to Division 4.
Some pictures of the race have been kindly posted on the club’s Facebook page, courtesy of Dylan Todd and Ollie Harding.
So with the Hasler Final done there are now only a couple more Hasler races left in 2012 before the Winter break. So make sure that you get out to race at Elmbridge this coming Sunday 7th or at Windsor on Sunday 14th. Please email or send a Facebook message to Will Abson if you want to enter in advance and avoid the late fees.
