World Marathon Championships

The World Marathon Championships take place this weekend in Copenhagen, Denmark. Four Richmond paddlers are competing. The masters event takes place first, and Sue M will be racing in both K1 and K2 on Wednesday and Thursday. On Friday Tom competes in the U23 K1, followed by Nick in U18 K2 on Saturday. Richmond juniors selected for marathon development team

Following their performances at the National Marathon Championships, 3  Richmond juniors have been selected to race at the French Nationals as part of a BCU development team. Harry Wells, Ollie Khlaf and Alex Khlaf will race k1 and k2 at the event, held on October 12/13. Best of luck from all at Richmond.

September Nottingham Regatta

Last weekend was the final national sprint regatta of the year. By all reports the weather was a vast improvement on previous events this year, with just a headwind to contend with. For the masters, this was their national championship event, and Richmond performed very strongly, especially in the O34 category where Shane, Gabor, Istvan and Balasz between themselves took 1st place 5 out of the 8 events. Richmond win Zeneca Trophy at Tonbridge Hasler

Richmond paddlers turned out in force for the final regional Hasler race of the season, held at Tonbridge Canoe Club on Sunday. The narrow, twisting river made a nice change from the Thames, with a large turnout from all clubs leading to a very busy river. Bank Holiday Monday Funday

Thanks to everyone who turned up for the K4 event on bank holiday- there were 56 paddlers in 14 different K4s. There was a real mix of paddlers, from lightnings to current international paddlers, and some people who had never been in a kayak before. Hopefully this will become an annual event.
